Ungenügender Schutz durch Sicherheitskräfte

 

Kairo/Frankfurt am Main (19. August 2013): Gewalttätige Muslimbrüder terrorisieren in Ägypten die christliche Minderheit in bisher nicht gekanntem Ausmaß. Der Internationalen Gesellschaft für Menschenrechte (IGFM) liegen bisher Berichte über die teilweise oder völlige Zerstörung von 56 Kirchen vor. Anhänger der Freiheits- und Gerechtigkeitspartei brachen dabei frühere „quasi-Tabus“ der Muslimbrüder: Sie warfen Brandsätze und Molotov-Cocktails auf christliche Kirchen, griffen Gläubige während des Gebetes an und vergewaltigten in der Provinz Beni Suef drei Nonnen. IGFM-Vorstandssprecher Martin Lessenthin sieht die christlichen Kopten als „Sündenböcke und leichte Opfer“, für den Sturz Mursis. „Wer Kirchen niederbrennt ist ein Terrorist und muss als solcher bekämpft werden“, so Lessenthin weiter. Der Zorn über den Machtverlust und die Enttäuschung über das Versagen der Regierung Mursi entlade sich nun an den vermeintlichen Vertretern des „christlichen Auslandes“, dass die Militärführung unterstütze. Dass die ägyptischen Christen bereits unter dem Regime von General Mubarak Bürger zweiter Klassen waren und auf das Verhalten des Militärs praktisch keinen Einfluss ausüben könnten, werde von den Islamisten völlig ausgeblendet.

Die IGFM fordert von Armee und Polizei dringend wirkungsvollen Schutz gegen die gewaltsamen Attacken der radikalen Muslimbrüder. Die Sicherheitskräfte müssten schnellstens handeln, um die koptische Minderheit vor dem Schlimmsten zu bewahren. Das Militär habe in einigen Fällen Kirchen erfolgreich verteidigt – in zahlreichen anderen Fällen fehlte ein Schutz durch die Sicherheitskräfte aber praktisch völlig, so die IGFM. Medhat Klada, der Vorsitzende des koptischen Dachverbandes European Union of Coptic Organizations for Human Rights (EUCOHR) berichtete, dass Verteidigungsminister Fattah al-Sisi versprochen habe, dass die zerstörten Kirchen wieder aufgebaut würden. Dennoch sei durch die Terrorakte der Muslimbrüder Jahrhunderte altes Kulturgut unwiderruflich zerstört worden. Auslöser der jüngsten Ausschreitungen der vergangenen Woche war die Räumung von zwei Protestcamps der Mursi-Anhänger durch Sicherheitskräfte. Nach aktuellen Schätzungen des ägyptischen Gesundheitsministeriums wurden dabei bisher 578 Menschen getötet und rund 4.000 verletzt. {Quelle: www.igfm.dewww.facebook.com}
