Salafist group warns Tomatoes are “Christian”
Muslims are the most gullible sub humans in the world..what a collective case of dumb-ass. This makes perfect sense… because it makes no sense. A Salafist group called the Popular Egyptian Islamic Association has come under fire after sending out a warning on Facebook urging its followers not to eat tomatoes because the vegetable (or fruit) is a Christian food. The group posted a photo on its page of a tomato – which appears to reveal the shape of a cross after being cut in half – along with the message: “Eating tomatoes is forbidden because they are Christian. [The tomato] praises the cross instead of Allah and says that Allah is three (a reference to the Trinity). [God help us]. I implore you to spread this photo because there is a sister from Palestine who saw the prophet of Allah [Mohammad] in a vision and he was crying, warning his nation against eating them [tomatoes]. If you don’t spread this [message], know that it is the devil who stopped you”. Yeah… no. Predictably, Facebook users expressed outrage over the post, which prompted the group to clarify its stance on the controversy with the update, “We didn’t say you can’t eat tomatoes. We said don’t cut it in [such a way that reveals] the cross shape”. I see what you did there. Crazy religious nutjobs are still crazy. I wonder if the Muslim Brotherhood’s presidential candidate, Mohammad Morsi, is happy about getting an endorsement from this group?

Indonesien: Zwei verhaftete Christen vertrauen auf Jesus
In Banda Aceh, auf der Nordspitze der Insel Sumatra,
wurde zwei Christen fälschlicherweise vorgeworfen,
eine Muslimin getauft zu haben.
Daraufhin wurden sie geschlagen und verhaftet.
In Indonesien, wo die nationale Gesetzgebung die Religionsfreiheit garantiert,
ist die Provinz Aceh die einzige Region,
in der die Scharia gilt.
Am 30. Mai 2012 wurden Roy Tyson Kalbulan und Ribur Manulang (Bild, Montage) von einer aufgebrachten Menge geschlagen und anschliessend von der dorthin entsandten Polizei verhaftet. Ihnen wird vorgeworfen, Miriam, eine Muslimin, getauft zu haben, obwohl sie nur ihre Fragen beantwortet hatten. «Ich habe Miriam eine Woche vor dem Übergriff kennengelernt. Sie hatte viele Fragen zu Jesus und der Taufe. Deshalb habe ich mit ihr über meinen Glauben gesprochen», berichtet Roy. Ribur kam von einem anderen Dorf, als sie sah, wie Roy angegriffen wurde. Da jemand aus der Menge sie kannte und wusste, dass sie zum Freundeskreis von Roy gehört, wurde sie ebenfalls verprügelt. Trotz dieser falschen Anschuldigungen halten sie an ihrem Glauben fest. «Wir empfinden es als Ehre, am Leiden von Jesus Anteil zu haben. Als mich die Menge schlug, dachte ich an Jesus, der das Gleiche ertragen hatte», erzählt Ribur im Gefängnis. «Unsere Angreifer verhöhnten und drängten uns, doch Isa (Jesus) anzurufen um zu sehen, ob er uns zu Hilfe komme. Aber wir haben sie im Gebet gesegnet», ergänzt sie. Die beiden Christen haben auch das Polizeiverhör genutzt, um ihren Glauben zu bezeugen. Ausserdem sind Roy und Ribur nun auch in der Haft ein Zeugnis für ihre Mitgefangenen. «Ich habe ihnen erklärt, dass ich lieber sterben würde, als meinen Glauben an Jesus zu verleugnen. Sie haben miterlebt, wie ich bete und Gott lobe, und das hat ihr Interesse geweckt. Nun möchten sie mehr über Jesus erfahren», schliesst Roy.
Gebetskampagne «Iran»

Diese neue Gebetskampagne für den Iran begann im Mai 2012. Wir verschicken ein monatliches Gebetsmail mit einer Einführung und Gebetsanliegen für die einzelnen Freitage des Monats. Auch in dieser Kampage wird der Fokus grösstenteils auf den Christen muslimischer Herkunft sein, die ihren Glauben im Verborgenen ausüben müssen.
In Indonesien ist ein Mann, der sich auf Facebook als Atheist bezeichnete, zu einer zweieinhalbjährigen Gefängnisstrafe verurteilt worden. Ein Gericht auf der Insel Sumatra fand den Angeklagten der Gotteslästerung für schuldig. Der 32-Jährige Alexander Aan (Foto) habe damit den Propheten Mohammed beleidigt. Aan hat, wie das Blatt Jarkarta Post berichtete, das Urteil des Richters akzeptiert und sich unter anderem auch bei seiner Familie entschuldigt. Den Medien zufolge ist er in dem südasiatischen Land die erste Person, die wegen dieses “Vergehens” ins Gefängnis muss.

In Indonesia, jailed for non-believing
When I met Alexander Aan in the police station where he was locked up in February, he said:
“I cannot believe God exists when I see all the poverty in our country”.
On Thursday, the 32-year-old civil servant from Dharmasraya in West Sumatra was been sent to prison for two and half years and ordered to pay a fine of around $10,000. Judges found him guilty of inciting hatred towards religion with his postings on Facebook, which were mostly about Prophet Mohammad. The verdict has drawn reactions from all over the world. Many questioned Indonesia’s growing intolerance towards minorities, including atheists. Atheism appears to be growing in Indonesia, with nearly 1,000 followers on Twitter for a group called Indonesian Atheists. Most of the members are too afraid to expose themselves, a fact which underlining the existing intolerance towards “non-believers”. Although the constitution guarantees religious freedom for every Indonesian, it also states that all citizens should believe in God. This contradiction has led to a debate among religious experts in Indonesia over whether atheism is illegal or not.
The judges in Aan’s case chose a safe way out; sentencing him not for atheism, but for inciting religious hatred. The firm rejection of atheism in Indonesia hails from a dark period in its history. In the 1960s an estimated one million members of a growing communist party were killed by the military and Muslim youth groups. One of the main reasons the youngsters turned into killers was because of a strong propaganda campaign that portrayed communists as non-believers, even as devils. Until this day, atheism and communism are practically synonymous in Indonesia. But a new generation has long forgotten these painful historic events. Some decided to join the atheist community after witnessing growing intolerance in name of religion. Since the fall of the authoritarian regime of former president Suharto in 1998, thousands have been killed during religious conflicts. In recent years, attacks on churches and religious minorities have multiplied. “Indonesians are still a very tolerant people,” Endy Bayuni, the chief editor of the Jakarta Post, told Aljazeera in response to Aan’s verdict. “But we are also tolerating the intolerant”. That is exactly what is happening. I am writing this blog from a town in West Java where the local government has decided to implement Sharia laws that contradict national laws. When I asked the mayor why the laws where needed he said: “I was fed up with the protests of radical groups every week at my office”. The judges in West Sumatra have felt similar pressures. Radical groups had threatened to behead Aan and become violent if the verdict was not strong enough.
