Jimmy Carter hat „keine Probleme“ mit Islamisten an der Macht

Januar 2012 – AFP berichtet: Der ehemalige US-Präsident Jimmy Carter gab am Dienstag den ägyptischen Parlamentswahlen seinen Segen, als er sagte, Volkes Wille sei „akkurat zum Ausdruck gekommen“. „Wir sind sehr zufrieden gewesen“, sagte Carter gegenüber Reportern während einer Tour durch ein Wahllokal in der Rod al-Farag-Mädchenoberschule in einem Arbeiterviertel der ägyptischen Hauptstadt. Nach der Wahl der Islamisten an die Macht gefragt, sagte Carter: „Ich habe kein Problem damit. Die US-Regierung hat damit auch kein Problem.“ Die Plattform der Freiheits- und Gerechtigkeitspartei der Muslimbruderschaft sagt bei der Diskussion über Frauen (auf Arabisch), dass sie danach strebt „sicherzustellen, dass alle Frauen ihre Recht erhalten, so lange diese nicht der islamischen Scharia widersprechen und so lange sie bezüglich ihrer Pflichten ausgewogen sind.“ Was bedeutet, dass die FGP ausdrücklich gegen gleiche Rechte für Frauen ist. Die Plattform kritisiert außerdem die Konvention zur Eliminierung aller Formen von Diskriminierung von Frauen. Ja, ein Friedensnobelpreis-Träger und angeblicher Verteidiger der Menschenrechte – der aus der Southern Baptist Convention wegen deren Haltung gegenüber Frauen austrat – hat keine Probleme damit, dass die bevölkerungsstärkste arabische Nation von einer Gruppe kontrolliert wird, deren Parteiprogramm ausdrücklich gegen gleiche Rechte für Frauen ist (ganz zu schweigen von ihrer Haltung zu religiösen Minderheiten Ägyptens). {Quele: heplev.wordpress.com}

I Recognize Egyptian People’s Love for the Muslim Brotherhood

 

Dr. Mohamed Badie, Chairman of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), and his deputy Khairat Al-Shater met with former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, president of the Carter Center international foundation, and his accompanying delegation, at MB headquarter. In a press statement, Dr. Mahmoud Ghozlan, MB spokesman said: “Carter congratulated the Muslim Brotherhood on the legislative elections results, stressing that he’s come to recognize the love of the Egyptian people for the Muslim Brotherhood as a result of their sacrifices and their interaction with all people in society, and that his foundation reports confirm that the Egyptian parliamentary elections were fair and reflect the will of the Egyptian people.” With regard to the Palestinian issue, Carter stressed that the Israeli side did not honour the rights of the Palestinian people enshrined in the peace treaties, as evidenced by its continued settlement activities and the seizure of Palestinian land. He added that he, personally, when he was president of the United States, as well as Bush senior, made real efforts to stop the settlements, but were not successful, and that Bush junior and President Obama allowed the Israelis to increase their settlement efforts.

 

For his part, the MB chairman welcomed Carter’s visit, and hailed the role played by the Carter Center and its testimony for the fairness of the Egyptian elections, adding that the elections result is a huge responsibility placed by the Egyptian people on the shoulders of the Muslim Brotherhood, who vow to effect democratic change and achieve stability, security and rejuvenation of Egypt, hoping that this change should be a role model for all the countries of the region. Dr. Badie reaffirmed that this is the era of Popular Sovereignty (sovereignty of the people), and expressed the hope that foreign countries, especially the United States, shall respect the will of the people, radically change their policies, accept and deal with the elected representatives of the peoples, stop supporting tyrant rulers and dictators, and refrain from interfering in the internal affairs of other States. Dr. Badie also expressed his indignation and condemnation of the continuing gross injustice inflicted on the Palestinian people, and called on the U.S. administration to change its biased and constant support for the Zionist side, to take a practical just position on this issue, and not to resort to “mere soothe-saying as we heard from President Obama”, if it wanted a change in people’s hearts, currently overflowing with hatred towards the successive U.S. governments.

 

As regards the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), Dr. Badie pointed out that it now has two tasks: the essential task and key role of protecting the country’s borders and safeguarding its national security – “a role we value and cherish”, and a political role – an interim task that will be fulfilled with the establishment of the remaining constitutional institutions. He added that “our position with regard to SCAF is that we support it when it is right, and advise it when it errs, until it hands over power to civilian authorities elected by the people. In conclusion, the MB chairman underlined the need to respect essential Palestinian principles, to restore their usurped rights, and lift the injustice inflicted upon them.
